Madonna by Olivia de Berardini
A long time ago i came upon a Playboy magazine which had this rare full page illustration by the amazing pinup artist Olivia de Berardini. I used to be huge into pinup art style illustrations in the early 90's and loved Olivia's artwork from my HeavyMetal comic days, so this was a very pleasant find.Sorry the image i have is not so clear, there are two ribbons falling from her hat on either side of her all the way down to her ankles, beautiful artwork. I take it, it was inspired by the Blond Ambition tour, thus the "I Dream of Genie" pony tail! Enjoy :)

Ok, being a fashion designer from Pakistan i know a thing or two about how a Sari should and should not be worn. That is why i could not believe who ill advised Madonna was by whom ever made her wear a Beautiful Purple Sari for the VH1 Music and Fashion awards.
Here is how she did look and how she should have looked, unless she was going for the filmy mad woman in the village who casts spells on passerbys and talks to herself!
For those who like Saris and know a thing or two about the Indian film culture would also know of another Superstar who takes inspiration from Madonna called Rekha, now that girl knows how to wear a Sari and i am sure she has quite and extensive collection. Maybe Madonna should have consulted her, for i hear they both met each other when Madonna went to India in the 2000's, but alas this attempt at wearing a Sari is much before then.
